About me

About me

I’m Jim (Jimmy) Thew, a UK-based Technical Production Manager and multi-disciplined event technician with over 15 years’ experience delivering complex live, virtual and hybrid events. I’m currently Senior Production Manager at one of the UK’s leading event agencies. I lead end-to-end production for projects that require detailed technical planning and disciplined delivery management.

I take a technical-first approach. I enjoy turning creative intent into practical, buildable solutions—using CAD plans, schematics, visualisations and 3D modelling to align stakeholders early and reduce friction on site. I’m at my best when I’m balancing detail with delivery: building realistic schedules, spotting risks early, coordinating suppliers and crew, and keeping standards consistent through build, show and de-rig.

A career highlight was serving as Technical Lead for the United Nations COP26 Green Zone, where I led 73 production managers and technicians and delivered 230+ hybrid sessions to deadline, across multiple spaces and stakeholders.

More recently, I’ve delivered complex hybrid events and technical production across Europe, working with distributed teams, building strong relationships with local suppliers, and adapting quickly to different venues and compliance requirements.

Health and safety is integral to how I work. I have hands-on experience leading H&S implementation on complex builds and live sites, embedding safe systems of work through SOPs, site briefings/toolbox talks, and consistent contractor standards. I also produce and consolidate technical documentation and compliance templates (including RAMS and Construction Phase Plan documentation) to improve quality, speed and repeatability.

Alongside production management, I continue to take hands-on technical roles. That practical delivery background strengthens the production management: it helps close gaps between departments, improves fault-finding under pressure, and keeps planning grounded in what will actually work on site.
