In-Service Inspection and Testing (PAT Testing)
In-service inspection and testing of production equipment used in live event environments.
Testing is focused on equipment typically found in professional audio, video, lighting and technical production inventories, with inspection informed by how the kit is actually deployed, transported and powered on shows.
Equipment typically covered
- High-value audio, video and lighting equipment
- Control desks, racks, processors and powered devices
- Power distribution, touring extensions and mains assemblies
- Custom or non-standard production equipment
Inspection and testing
- Visual inspection based on real-world use and transport exposure
- Electrical testing appropriate to the equipment type and duty
- Identification of damage, wear or build issues relevant to live use
- Focus on items that present higher risk in temporary event environments
Testing is carried out at a pace that allows proper inspection—not just sticker-bashing.
Integration with production prep
- Can be done during warehouse prep, pre-load, or between events
- Failed items identified and segregated early
- Notes provided where repair or remedial work is required
- Reduces substitutions and last-minute issues on-site
Records
- Pass/fail labelling applied
- Digital test reports provided as required
- Documentation suitable for venue sign-off, production files, and insurance
